(pal' ti) Personal name meaning, “my deliverance.” 1. Benjamin's representative among the twelve spies sent to survey Canaan (Numbers 13:9 ). 2 . Second husband of Michal, King Saul's daughter who had previously been given in marriage to David (1 Samuel 25:44 ; KJV, Phalti). Michal was later returned to David in consequence of Abner's defection from Ishbosheth (2 Samuel 3:15-16 ). The fuller form Paltiel , meaning, “God delivers,” is used in 2Samuel (KJV, Phaltiel).

PALTI. 1. The Benjamite spy ( Numbers 13:9 ). 2. The man to whom Michal, David’s wife, was given by Saul ( 1 Samuel 25:44 ). In 2 Samuel 3:15 he is called Paltiel. See following article under No. 2.

The son of Raphu. (See Numbers 13:9) He was one of those sent by Moses to spy the land of promise. His name, if derived from Palat, signifies deliverance. It should seem by 2 Samuel 23:26, that there must have been a place called Palat, for Helez one of David's worthies, is said to be the Paltite or Pelonite. (See 1 Chronicles 11:27)
