Holman Bible Dictionary
(hi' lehn) Place name perhaps meaning, “power.” City in tribal territory of Judah given to Levites (1 Chronicles 6:58 ). The parallel passage (Joshua 21:15 ; compare Joshua 15:51 ) reads Holon. The Hebrew text in Chronicles actually reads “Hilez.” Copying changes affected the various manuscript readings of this little-known town. See Holon , Levitical Cities .
