But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.
And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously.
And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.
And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.
