Psalms 17:1-15
[1] {A Prayer of David.} Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips. [2] Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal. [3] Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. [4] Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. [5] Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. [6] I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. [7] Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. [8] Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, [9] From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. [10] They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. [11] They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; [12] Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. [13] Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword: [14] From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. [15] As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. |

Psalms 59:1-17
[1] {To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him.} Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. [2] Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. [3] For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. [4] They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold. [5] Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. [6] They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. [7] Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear? [8] But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision. [9] Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence. [10] The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies. [11] Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield. [12] For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. [13] Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah. [14] And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. [15] Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied. [16] But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. [17] Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy. |

Psalms 64:1-10
[1] {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy. [2] Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: [3] Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: [4] That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. [5] They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them? [6] They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep. [7] But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. [8] So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away. [9] And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing. [10] The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory. |
