• Ark

Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the Ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the Ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.

And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the Ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:

And the children of Israel inquired of the LORD, (for the Ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the Ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the Ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the Ark of the covenant of God.

And the Ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the Ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.

And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the Ark of God is taken.

And it came to pass, when he made mention of the Ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

And his daughter in law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the Ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.

And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the Ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.

And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the Ark of God is taken.

And the Philistines took the Ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

When the Philistines took the Ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The Ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our God.

They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the Ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the Ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the Ark of the God of Israel about thither.

Therefore they sent the Ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the Ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the Ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.

So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the Ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.

And they said, If ye send away the Ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a trespass offering: then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.

And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring hither the Ark of God. For the Ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.

And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the Ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.

And they set the Ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.

And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the Ark of God: and Ahio went before the Ark.

And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the Ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the Ark of God.

And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the Ark of God. So David went and brought up the Ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.

That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the Ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the Ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the Ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.

• Ark

And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the Ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me both it, and his habitation:

Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the Ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they tarried there.

• Punishment

And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the Ark of the Lord God before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.

And let us bring again the Ark of our God to us: for we inquired not at it in the days of Saul.

So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the Ark of God from Kirjathjearim.

And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the Ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.

And they carried the Ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the Ark: and there he died before God.

And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the Ark of God home to me?

And the Ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the Ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

• Ark

Then David said, None ought to carry the Ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the Ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the Ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the Ark of the LORD God of Israel.

And the children of the Levites bare the Ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.

And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the Ark of God: and Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the Ark.

• Seven

And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the Ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

So they brought the Ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.

And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the Ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:

Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the Ark of the covenant of God.

Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the Ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.

Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the Ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:

But the Ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the Ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness.

And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy Ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an Ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the Ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the Ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
