Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto Other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve Other gods, and worship them;
And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on Other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of Other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto Other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers.
Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of Other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of Other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto Other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto Other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after Other gods to your hurt:
Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after Other gods whom ye know not;
The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto Other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after Other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after Other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after Other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;
Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve Other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.
Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto Other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto Other gods.
Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped Other gods, and served them.
And go not after Other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.
And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto Other gods, to provoke me to anger.
I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after Other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve Other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.
But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto Other gods.
In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto Other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto Other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none Other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? Other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
