Obadiah 1:1
The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle. |
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of The Kingdom of the Lord over Israel.
And now ye think to withstand The Kingdom of the Lord in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.
Then Samuel told the people the manner of the Kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the Lord. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.
And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy Kingdom upon Israel for ever.
And Samuel said unto him, the Lord hath rent the Kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.
And the Lord hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the Lord hath rent the Kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:
And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my Kingdom are guiltless before the Lord for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:
the Lord hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the Lord hath delivered the Kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.
Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the Kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the Kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
As the Lord thy God liveth, there is no nation or Kingdom, whither my Lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the Kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
And inquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned the Kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his Kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the Kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the Lord.
And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his Kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
And of all my sons, (for the Lord hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the Kingdom of the Lord over Israel.
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his Kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the Lord, and an house for his Kingdom.
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the Lord, and an house for his Kingdom.
And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the Kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.
Ought ye not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the Kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
And now ye think to withstand the Kingdom of the Lord in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.
And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no power to keep still the Kingdom.
And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the Kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the Lord.
And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his Kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord he was God.
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his Kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his Kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his Kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
the fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the Kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts.
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and Kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the Lord, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
the Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied: he hath thrown down in his wrath the strong holds of the daughter of Judah; he hath brought them down to the ground: he hath polluted the Kingdom and the princes thereof.
And the Lord said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the Kingdom of the house of Israel.
Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful Kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.
And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the Kingdom shall be the Lord'S.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Blessed be the Kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the Kingdom to Israel?
Preaching the Kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
