Joel 2:12-31
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God? Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: read more Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people. Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen: But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things. Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things. Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. show less |

And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee To the king, To say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for Me To have been there still: now therefore let Me see the king's face; and if there be any iniquity in Me, let him kill Me.
And it came To pass after forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let Me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the LORD, in Hebron.
For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If the LORD shall bring Me again indeed To Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD.
But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do To Me as seemeth good unto him.
See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you To certify Me.
But if thou return To the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father's servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for Me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.
And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore Me the kingdom of my father.
Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again To Joab, But howsoever, let Me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi. And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing that thou hast no tidings ready?
And say ye To Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so To Me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before Me continually in the room of Joab.
And David said, What have I To do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto Me? shall there any man be put To death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?
And it came To pass, when he was come To Jerusalem To meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with Me, Mephibosheth?
And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived Me: for thy servant said, I will saddle Me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go To the king; because thy servant is lame.
And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with Me, and I will do To him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of Me, that will I do for thee.
Then said the king To Amasa, Assemble Me the men of Judah within three days, and be thou here present.
The LORD rewarded Me according To my righteousness: according To the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed Me.
Therefore the LORD hath recompensed Me according To my righteousness; according To my cleanness in his eye sight.
For thou hast girded Me with strength To battle: them that rose up against Me hast thou subdued under Me.
Thou also hast delivered Me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept Me To be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve Me.
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake To Me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with Me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not To grow.
So Gad came To David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return To him that sent Me.
And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah feareth king Solomon: for, lo, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto Me To day that he will not slay his servant with the sword.
That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning Me, saying, If thy children take heed To their way, To walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.
Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did To Me, and what he did To the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.
But shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came To Me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother.
And, behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed Me with a grievous curse in the day when I went To Mahanaim: but he came down To meet Me at Jordan, and I sware To him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee To death with the sword.
And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give Me Abishag the Shunammite To wife.
Then king Solomon sware by the LORD, saying, God do so To Me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.

And Benaiah came To the tabernacle of the LORD, and said unto him, Thus saith the king, Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered Me.
And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make thee To swear by the LORD, and protested unto thee, saying, Know for a certain, on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any whither, that thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto Me, The word that I have heard is good.
Now therefore command thou that they hew Me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according To all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that there is not among us any that can skill To hew timber like unto the Sidonians.
And Hiram sent To Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest To Me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.

And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before Me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, To put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

Because that they have forsaken Me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, To do that which is right in mine eyes, and To keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before Me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen Me To put my name there.
And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again To Me. And the people departed.
And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken To Me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
So Jeroboam and all the people came To Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come To Me again the third day.
Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man To his house; for this thing is from Me. They hearkened therefore To the word of the LORD, and returned To depart, according To the word of the LORD.
If this people go up To do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill Me, and go again To Rehoboam king of Judah.
For it was said To Me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again To go by the way that thou camest.

And rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed Me with all his heart, To do that only which was right in mine eyes;
But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and molten images, To provoke Me To anger, and hast cast Me behind thy back:
Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel To sin, To provoke Me To anger with their sins;
So he arose and went To Zarephath. And when he came To the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called To her, and said, Fetch Me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

And she said unto Elijah, What have I To do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto Me To call my sin To remembrance, and To slay my son?
And he said, What have I sinned, that thou wouldest deliver thy servant into the hand of Ahab, To slay Me?
And it shall come To pass, as soon as I am gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall slay Me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
Now therefore send, and gather To Me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.

Then he wrote a letter the second time To them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come To Me To Jezreel by To morrow this time. Now therefore call unto Me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice To do To Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, To the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked Me To anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.
Go ye, inquire of the LORD for Me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, To do according unto all that which is written concerning us. So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed with her.
And she said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell the man that sent you To Me,
Because they have forsaken Me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke Me To anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.

And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home To Me?
Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build Me an house To dwell in:
Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word To any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded To feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built Me an house of cedars?
And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while To come, and hast regarded Me according To the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again To him that sent Me.
And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people To be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on Me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose Me before all the house of my father To be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah To be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked Me To make Me king over all Israel:
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given Me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son To sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
And he said unto Me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him To be my son, and I will be his father.

Send Me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill To cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,
Even To prepare Me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about To build shall be wonderful great.
Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight To sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed To their way To walk in my law, as thou hast walked before Me.
And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before Me, as David thy father walked, and do according To all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;

Go, inquire of the LORD for Me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, To do after all that is written in this book.
And she answered them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you To Me,
Because they have forsaken Me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke Me To anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.

For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves To provoke Me To anger in offering incense unto Baal.
But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought To the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against Me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
Mine heritage is unto Me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come To devour.
They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto Me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it To heart.
And it came To pass after many days, that the LORD said unto Me, Arise, go To Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee To hide there.
For as the girdle cleaveth To the loins of a man, so have I caused To cleave unto Me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto Me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
Their widows are increased To Me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him To fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.
Woe is Me, my mother, that thou hast borne Me a man of strife and a man of contention To the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent To Me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse Me.
Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth To be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto Me as a liar, and as waters that fail?
As for Me, I have not hastened from being a pastor To follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee.
And it shall come To pass, if ye diligently hearken unto Me, saith the LORD, To bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, To do no work therein;
But if ye will not hearken unto Me To hallow the sabbath day, and not To bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.
Because my people hath forgotten Me, they have burned incense To vanity, and they have caused them To stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, To walk in paths, in a way not cast up;
Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit To take Me, and hid snares for my feet.
Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against Me To slay Me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.
Because he slew Me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb To be always great with Me.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this To know Me? saith the LORD.
The LORD shewed Me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them To Babylon.
And I will give them an heart To know Me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto Me with their whole heart.
And go not after other gods To serve them, and To worship them, and provoke Me not To anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.
Yet ye have not hearkened unto Me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke Me To anger with the works of your hands To your own hurt.
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto Me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, To whom I send thee, To drink it.
Then took I the cup at the LORD'S hand, and made all the nations To drink, unto whom the LORD had sent Me:
If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent Me of the evil, which I purpose To do unto them because of the evil of their doings.
And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken To Me, To walk in my law, which I have set before you,
Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and To all the people, saying, The LORD sent Me To prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.
But know ye for certain, that if ye put Me To death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent Me unto you To speak all these words in your ears.
And it came To pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto Me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD'S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them To Babylon: And I will bring again To this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon. read more Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD, Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, To bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place. Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people; The prophets that have been before Me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence. The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come To pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him. Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it. And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way. Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron. For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also. Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people To trust in a lie. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month. show less
And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him To draw near, and he shall approach unto Me: for who is this that engaged his heart To approach unto Me? saith the LORD.
I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised Me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed To the yoke: turn thou Me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.
So Hanameel mine uncle's son came To Me in the court of the prison according To the word of the LORD, and said unto Me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.
And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, To provoke Me To anger.
For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before Me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked Me To anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.
For this city hath been To Me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,
Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done To provoke Me To anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
And they have turned unto Me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened To receive instruction.
And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, To do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.
And it shall be To Me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before Me To offer burnt offerings, and To kindle meat offerings, and To do sacrifice continually.
And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man To his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by my name:
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto Me, in proclaiming liberty, every one To his brother, and every man To his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, To the sword, To the pestilence, and To the famine; and I will make you To be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not To drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father's commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not unto Me.
I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods To serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given To you and To your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto Me.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man To stand before Me for ever.
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say To the king of Judah, that sent you unto Me To inquire of Me; Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth To help you, shall return To Egypt into their own land.
Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause Me not To return To the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
Then Jeremiah said unto Zedekiah, If I declare it unto thee, wilt thou not surely put Me To death? and if I give thee counsel, wilt thou not hearken unto Me?
And Zedekiah the king said unto Jeremiah, I am afraid of the Jews that are fallen To the Chaldeans, lest they deliver Me into their hand, and they mock Me.
Then thou shalt say unto them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause Me To return To Jonathan's house, To die there.
And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee To come with Me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee To come with Me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee To go, thither go.
As for Me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah To serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake To Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let Me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
And said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent Me To present your supplication before him;
And now I have this day declared it To you; but ye have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God, nor any thing for the which he hath sent Me unto you.
Because of their wickedness which they have committed To provoke Me To anger, in that they went To burn incense, and To serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.
In that ye provoke Me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone To dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
Thou didst say, Woe is Me now! for the LORD hath added grief To my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.
The violence done To Me and To my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.
Though Babylon should mount up To heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from Me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.
Is it nothing To you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto Me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted Me in the day of his fierce anger.
The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength To fall, the Lord hath delivered Me into their hands, from whom I am not able To rise up.
The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of Me: he hath called an assembly against Me To crush my young men: the Lord hath trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.
I called for my lovers, but they deceived Me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat To relieve their souls.
They have heard that I sigh: there is none To comfort Me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto Me.
And he said unto Me, Son of man, I send thee To the children of Israel, To a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against Me: they and their fathers have transgressed against Me, even unto this very day.
And he said unto Me, Son of man, cause thy belly To eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
And it came To pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto Me, saying,
And it came To pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before Me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon Me.
And he put forth the form of an hand, and took Me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted Me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought Me in the visions of God To Jerusalem, To the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh To jealousy.
And he brought Me To the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.
Then he brought Me To the door of the gate of the LORD'S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
Then he said unto Me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing To the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned To provoke Me To anger: and, lo, they put the branch To their nose.
Afterwards the spirit took Me up, and brought Me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, To them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from Me.
Again the word of the LORD came To Me, saying, Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days To come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off.
And will ye pollute Me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, To slay the souls that should not die, and To save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying To my people that hear your lies?
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from Me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh To a prophet To inquire of him concerning Me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto Me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them To be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,
Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, To provoke Me To anger.
And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him To Babylon, and will plead with him there for his trespass that he hath trespassed against Me.
And it came To pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came To inquire of the LORD, and sat before Me.
Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come To inquire of Me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you.
But they rebelled against Me, and would not hearken unto Me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, To accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, To be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, To consume them.
Notwithstanding the children rebelled against Me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments To do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, To accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
In thee have they taken gifts To shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten Me, saith the Lord GOD.
Son of man, the house of Israel is To Me become dross: all they are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver.
That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto Me, To pass for them through the fire, To devour them.
And the people said unto Me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are To us, that thou doest so?
And it came To pass in the eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto Me, saying,
And it came To pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto Me, saying,
In that day shall messengers go forth from Me in ships To make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.
And it came To pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, in the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto Me, saying,
And it came To pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto Me, saying,
And it came To pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto Me, saying,
It came To pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto Me, saying,
And it came To pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto Me, saying, The city is smitten.
Now the hand of the LORD was upon Me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came To Me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.
And caused Me To pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
Then said he unto Me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say To the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud To cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know Me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.
And the man said unto Me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for To the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest To the house of Israel.
After that he brought Me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according To these measures.
And he brought Me To the inner court by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according To these measures;
And he brought Me into the inner court toward the east: and he measured the gate according To these measures.
And he brought Me To the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought Me by the steps whereby they went up To it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
Afterward he brought Me To the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.
And he said unto Me, Son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, To offer burnt offerings thereon, and To sprinkle blood thereon.
And thou shalt give To the priests the Levites that be of the seed of Zadok, which approach unto Me, To minister unto Me, saith the Lord GOD, a young bullock for a sin offering.
And they shall not come near unto Me, To do the office of a priest unto Me, nor To come near To any of my holy things, in the most holy place: but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed.
But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, they shall come near To Me To minister unto Me, and they shall stand before Me To offer unto Me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD:
They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near To my table, To minister unto Me, and they shall keep my charge.
Then said he unto Me, This is the place where the priests shall boil the trespass offering and the sin offering, where they shall bake the meat offering; that they bear them not out into the utter court, To sanctify the people.
Then he brought Me forth into the utter court, and caused Me To pass by the four corners of the court; and, behold, in every corner of the court there was a court.
And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought Me through the waters; the waters were To the ancles.
Again he measured a thousand, and brought Me through the waters; the waters were To the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought Me through; the waters were To the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters To swim in, a river that could not be passed over. And he said unto Me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought Me, and caused Me To return To the brink of the river.
And he said unto Me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought Me, and caused Me To return To the brink of the river.
And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make Me endanger my head To the king.
The king answered and said To the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from Me: if ye will not make known unto Me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
But if ye will not make known unto Me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words To speak before Me, till the time be changed: therefore tell Me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew Me the interpretation thereof.
Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained To destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring Me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.
The king answered and said To Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able To make known unto Me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
But as for Me, this secret is not revealed To Me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation To the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
I thought it good To shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward Me.
Therefore made I a decree To bring in all the wise men of Babylon before Me, that they might make known unto Me the interpretation of the dream.
But at the last Daniel came in before Me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according To the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,
This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able To make known unto Me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto Me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation To generation:
The king cried aloud To bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said To the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew Me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known To Me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
And it came To pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before Me as the appearance of a man.
Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused To fly swiftly, touched Me about the time of the evening oblation.
And he informed Me, and talked with Me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth To give thee skill and understanding.
And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with Me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled To hide themselves.
Then said he unto Me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart To understand, and To chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood Me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came To help Me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return To my first husband; for then was it better with Me than now.
And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense To them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat Me, saith the LORD.
And I will sow her unto Me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say To them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest To Me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
I will go and return To my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek Me early.
And my people are bent To backsliding from Me: though they called them To the most High, none at all would exalt him.
According To their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten Me.
Ephraim shall say, What have I To do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From Me is thy fruit found.
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even To Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
Yea, and what have ye To do with Me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render Me a recompence? and if ye recompense Me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
So two or three cities wandered unto one city, To drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the LORD.
I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps To come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith the LORD.
The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring Me down To the ground?
The waters compassed Me about, even To the soul: the depth closed Me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
I went down To the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about Me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from Me; for it is better for Me To die than To live.
And it came To pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself To die, and said, It is better for Me To die than To live.
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto Me that is To be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto Me: It is good for a man not To touch a woman. Nevertheless, To avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. read more Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves To fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore To the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better To marry than To burn. And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled To her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. But To the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased To dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased To dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us To peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? But as God hath distributed To every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches. Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God. Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called. Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God. Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord To be faithful. I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so To be. Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not To be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away. But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong To the Lord, how he may please the Lord: But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry. Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. So then he that giveth her in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth her not in marriage doeth better. The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty To be married To whom she will; only in the Lord. But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. show less
But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto Me: for it were better for Me To die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing To glory of: for necessity is laid upon Me; yea, woe is unto Me, if I preach not the gospel!
Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember Me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them To you. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. read more For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman To be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not To cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman To have power on her head because of the angels. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory To her: for her hair is given her for a covering. But if any man seem To be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. show less
And though I bestow all my goods To feed the poor, and though I give my body To be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth Me nothing.
If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it Me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for To morrow we die.
When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according To the flesh, that with Me there should be yea yea, and nay nay?
Furthermore, when I came To Troas To preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto Me of the Lord,
For as touching the ministering To the saints, it is superfluous for Me To write To you:
Would To God ye could bear with Me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with Me.
And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable To no man: for that which was lacking To Me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous To apprehend Me:
It is not expedient for Me doubtless To glory. I will come To visions and revelations of the Lord. I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up To the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man To utter.
For though I would desire To glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of Me above that which he seeth Me To be, or that he heareth of Me.
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given To Me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan To buffet Me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled Me: for I ought To have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
For what is it wherein ye were inferior To other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome To you? forgive Me this wrong.
Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in Me, which To you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according To the power which the Lord hath given Me To edification, and not To destruction.
To reveal his Son in Me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
Neither went I up To Jerusalem To them which were apostles before Me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
Then fourteen years after I went up again To Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with Me also.
But of these who seemed To be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter To Me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed To be somewhat in conference added nothing To Me:
(For he that wrought effectually in Peter To the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in Me toward the Gentiles:)
And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed To be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto Me, they gave To Me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them To Me.
If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given Me To you-ward:
Whereof I was made a minister, according To the gift of the grace of God given unto Me by the effectual working of his power.
And for Me, that utterance may be given unto Me, that I may open my mouth boldly, To make known the mystery of the gospel,
Even as it is meet for Me To think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for Me by my coming To you again.
Him therefore I hope To send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with Me.
Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, To supply your lack of service toward Me.
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things To you, To Me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
Whereof I am made a minister, according To the dispensation of God which is given To Me for you, To fulfil the word of God;
Whereunto I also labour, striving according To his working, which worketh in Me mightily.
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in Me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern To them which should hereafter believe on him To life everlasting.
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of Me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according To the power of God;
And the things that thou hast heard of Me among many witnesses, the same commit thou To faithful men, who shall be able To teach others also.
Henceforth there is laid up for Me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give Me at that day: and not To Me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
For Demas hath forsaken Me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens To Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
Only Luke is with Me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable To Me for the ministry.
Alexander the coppersmith did Me much evil: the Lord reward him according To his works:
At my first answer no man stood with Me, but all men forsook Me: I pray God that it may not be laid To their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with Me, and strengthened Me; that by Me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver Me from every evil work, and will preserve Me unto his heavenly kingdom: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
And the Lord shall deliver Me from every evil work, and will preserve Me unto his heavenly kingdom: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto Me according To the commandment of God our Saviour;
When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent To come unto Me To Nicopolis: for I have determined there To winter.
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially To Me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say To thee how thou owest unto Me even thine own self besides.
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be To him a Father, and he shall be To Me a Son?
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be To them a God, and they shall be To Me a people:
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know Me, from the least To the greatest.
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of Me,) To do thy will, O God.
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail Me To tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
And I turned To see the voice that spake with Me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
I counsel thee To buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in To him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.
To him that overcometh will I grant To sit with Me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
And one of the elders saith unto Me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed To open the book, and To loose the seven seals thereof.
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said To Me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about To write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto Me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
And I fell at his feet To worship him. And he said unto Me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
And he carried Me away in the spirit To a great and high mountain, and shewed Me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
And he that talked with Me had a golden reed To measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.
And he said unto Me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel To shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down To worship before the feet of the angel which shewed Me these things.
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with Me, To give every man according as his work shall be.
