Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; |
And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our god.
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our god, for he will abundantly pardon.
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our god which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD god of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our god.
And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our god.
And he said, to morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our god.
And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our god: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?
We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our god, as he shall command us.
our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our god; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.
And the people spake against god, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our god commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.
Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our god commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
So the LORD our god delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.
And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our god hath commanded you?
And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our god, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our god, as he hath commanded us.
And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the LORD thy god, that I am come unto the country which the LORD sware unto our fathers for to give us.
Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our god, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
The secret things belong unto the LORD our god: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy god commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.
Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our god.
And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD god of Israel?
god forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our god that is before his tabernacle.
Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the LORD our god shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.
Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand. And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us. And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars. And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them. read more Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport. And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord god, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O god, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life. Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years. show less
Therefore they sent the ark of god to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of god came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the god of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.
So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the god of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of god was very heavy there.
And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our god for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.
And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of god, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.
Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of god: what have we?
And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of god, to tell us our way.
And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy god, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.
Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from god is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.
Wherefore thou art great, O LORD god: for there is none like thee, neither is there any god beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, god make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our god, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our god: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the god of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.
And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our god, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
And let us bring again the ark of our god to us: for we inquired not at it in the days of Saul.
And say ye, Save us, O god of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any god beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our god, and had made ready for the building:
O LORD our god, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my god, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our god. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.
And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our god; but ye have forsaken him.
And, behold, god himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD god of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.
And Asa cried unto the LORD his god, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our god; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our god; let not man prevail against thee.
And said, O LORD god of our fathers, art not thou god in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?
Art not thou our god, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
O our god, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our god to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our god shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our god; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD god of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our god.
For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our god is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.
So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our god.
Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our god was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
And said, O my god, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my god: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.
And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our god, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our god may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
For we were bondmen; yet our god hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our god, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
Now therefore let us make a covenant with our god to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our god; and let it be done according to the law.
And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and god had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work.
Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our god because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our god.
They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in god's law, which was given by Moses the servant of god, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;
Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our god;
For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our god.
And we cast the lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it into the house of our god, after the houses of our fathers, at times appointed year by year, to burn upon the altar of the LORD our god, as it is written in the law:
Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our god, unto the priests that minister in the house of our god:
And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our god; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.
And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our god, to the chambers, into the treasure house.
Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our god in marrying strange wives?
{to the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, Maschil.} We have heard with our ears, O god, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
{to the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.} god is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
{A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah.} Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our god, in the mountain of his holiness.
{to the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph.} Sing aloud unto god our strength: make a joyful noise unto the god of Jacob. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the god of Jacob. read more This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not. I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots. Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah. Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me; There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god. I am the LORD thy god, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries. The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever. He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee. show less
For he is our god; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. to day if ye will hear his voice,

Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our god; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our god: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our god; to comfort all that mourn;
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our god all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our god hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.
And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our god?
Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our god.
For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our god.
And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our god for us.
Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our god, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our god.
Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: the LORD our god hath not sent thee to say, Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:

The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our god, the vengeance of his temple.
If it be so, our god whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
to the Lord our god belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our god, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
Now therefore, O our god, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that god is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That god is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of god.
The god of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the god of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
Now therefore why tempt ye god, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of god, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of god, and Sosthenes our brother,
Unto the church of god which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of god, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of god;
For god, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of god in the face of Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to god and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our god to speak unto you the gospel of god with much contention.
But as we were allowed of god to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but god, which trieth our hearts.
So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of god only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of god, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
For what thanks can we render to god again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our god;
to the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before god, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of god and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
Hereby perceive we the love of god, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Herein is love, not that we loved god, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our god into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord god, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our god which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
