Mark 6:6-13

Mark 6:6-13

[6] And  he marvelled  because  of their  unbelief.  And  he went  round about  the villages,  teaching.  [7] And  he called  unto him the twelve,  and  began  them  forth  by two  and  gave  them  power over  unclean  spirits;  [8] And  commanded  them  that  they should take  nothing  for  their journey,  a staff  only;  no  scrip,  no  bread,  no  money  in  their purse:  [9] But  be shod  with sandals;  and  not  put on  two  coats.  [10] And  unto them,  In what place soever  ye enter  into  an house,  there  abide  till  ye depart  from that place.  [11] And  not  receive  nor  hear  when ye depart  thence,  shake off  the dust  under  feet  for  a testimony  against them.  Verily  I say  more tolerable  for Sodom  and  Gomorrha  in  the day  of judgment,  than  for that  city.  [12] And  they went out,  and preached  that  men should repent.  [13] And  they cast out  many  devils,  and  anointed  with oil  many  that were sick,  and  healed

What does Mark 6:6-13 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

Jesus continued to minister in Galilee. His ministry to the Twelve was an important part of His ministry. It prepared the disciples for further future service. It also anticipated His ministry through them following His ascension. This was the third tour of the Galilean villages that Mark reported (cf. Mark 1:14; Mark 1:39).
