[25] Thy men  shall fall  by the sword,  and thy mighty  in the war.  [26] And her gates  shall lament  and mourn;  and she being desolate  shall sit  upon the ground. 

What does Isaiah 3:25-26 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

The woman in view is Jerusalem personified. She is seen as having lost her providers and defenders and all on whom she depended. She is utterly without joy and alone (cf. Lamentations 1:1).
"There is extant a coin from [1] Vespasian which pictures the conquered Jerusalem as a dejected woman sitting under a palm tree, a soldier standing before her, and which bears the inscription Judaea capta, or devicta. Jerusalem alone." [2]
