Jeremiah 44:4-6

Jeremiah 44:4-6

[4] Howbeit I sent  unto you all my servants  the prophets,  rising early  and sending  them, saying,  Oh, do  not this abominable  thing  that I hate.  [5] But they hearkened  not, nor inclined  their ear  to turn  from their wickedness,  to burn no incense  unto other  gods.  [6] Wherefore my fury  and mine anger  was poured forth,  and was kindled  in the cities  of Judah  and in the streets  of Jerusalem;  and they are wasted  and desolate,  as at this day.

What does Jeremiah 44:4-6 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

This destruction had come after the Lord had sent His servants-the prophets-repeatedly, to warn the people that He hated what they were doing. Yet they did not listen and repent; they continued sacrificing to pagan gods. Their failure to repent was the cause of the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem.
