[2] I beseech  Euodias,  and  beseech  Syntyche,  the same  mind  in  the Lord.  [3] And  I intreat  also,  true  yokefellow,  help  those women  which  laboured  in  the gospel,  with  Clement  also,  with other  fellowlabourers,  whose  names  are in  the book  of life.  [4] Rejoice  in  the Lord  alway:  and again  I say,  Rejoice.  [5] moderation  be known  unto all  men.  The Lord  is at hand.  [6] Be careful  for nothing;  but  in  every thing  by prayer  and  supplication  with  thanksgiving  requests  be made known  unto  God.  [7] And  the peace  of God,  which  passeth  all  understanding,  shall keep  hearts  and  through  Christ  Jesus.  [8] Finally,  brethren,  whatsoever things  true,  whatsoever things  are honest,  whatsoever things  are just,  whatsoever things  are pure,  whatsoever things  are lovely,  whatsoever things  are of good report;  virtue,  and  praise,  think  [9] which  both  learned,  and  received,  and  heard,  and  in  do:  and  the God  of peace  with 

What does Philippians 4:2-9 Mean?

Contextual Meaning

This last section ( Philippians 4:2-9) of the body of the epistle ( Philippians 1:27 to Philippians 4:9) deals with the same two subjects as the preceding two sections, unity and steadfastness, but in more detail. Paul gave his readers specific instructions about what they should do. Unity needed restoring, and steadfastness needed encouraging.
